Betway Nigeria registration: sign up, your name and the bonus rules

Opening a Betway Nigeria account starts with your phone number.

What decides whether you get paid comes later. It is the name on your account, how many accounts you hold, and what the welcome offer asks you to bet. This page goes through the sign-up, then those rules, each from Betway’s own pages.

Is Betway licensed in Nigeria?

Yes. Betway Nigeria is run by Digi Bay Limited. Its site gives Lagos licence number LSLGA/OP/OSB/BW221017 (Betway terms and conditions).

Digi Bay Limited is on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s register of licensed online betting operators. The register spells the trade name “Batway” (LSLGA register).

You must be 18 or older. Betway’s terms limit its service to people of legal age (18). Anyone under 18 found using the site has any winnings forfeited (terms, Responsible Gaming Policy).

Betway’s staff and their immediate families cannot use the service (terms, General: Eligibility).

How to register on Betway Nigeria

You can register on betway.com.ng or in the Betway app, from Google Play or the App Store. Tap Sign Up. The form opens with one field: your mobile number after +234, then Next.

Betway’s FAQ lists the full steps (Betway FAQ, How do I register).

• Enter your mobile number.
• Choose a password.
• Select your date of birth.
• Tick “Agree to all”.
• Tap Register.
• Enter the code (OTP) that Betway sends to your phone by SMS.

By registering, you confirm that you are of legal age and accept all of Betway’s terms (terms, General: Acceptance of Terms).

Your mobile number becomes your username (terms, General: Passwords). Betway’s FAQ also calls it your User ID or Betway number. Keep your password to yourself: if you share it, Betway is not liable for what happens on the account.

Your name: register exactly as your bank shows it

Betway’s terms say registration may ask for your full legal name. If your details are wrong or incomplete, you must update them when Betway asks (terms, General: Registering a New Account).

Three rules depend on your name.

• Bank account or card. The account holder’s name must be the same as the name on your Betway account. If they “differ in any way, your account will be immediately suspended” (terms, General: Verification of Bank Details).
• Withdrawals. Betway pays only to a bank account in your own name. An OPay, PalmPay or Paga wallet must use the same mobile number as your Betway account (Betway FAQ).
• ID. Your proof of identity must match your registered name and surname (terms, General: Identification Checks).

If the names do not match, Betway can also void your winnings and keep your balance. The same applies if you gave incorrect or misleading information when you registered (terms, General: Termination of Account).

Changing your name later takes documents. In your account you can change only your email and social handles. To change your names, date of birth or address, you must send Betway details or documents (Betway FAQ, How do I update my account details).

What to do: type your full name and date of birth exactly as on your ID and bank account. Deposit only from an account in your own name.

One account, tied to your phone number

You may register and run only one account, and you may not use another person’s account.

Try to open a second account, under your own name or any other, and Betway can close all your accounts. It can also bar you from its service (terms, General: Single Account).

Your account is linked to your mobile number. Only you, the owner, may deposit into it under your name.

Betway can void your winnings and keep the balance if you hold more than one active account. The same goes if you let someone else use yours (terms, General: Termination of Account). Moving money between accounts is not allowed.

New phone number? The FAQ says the number on your account cannot be changed, because it is your unique identifier. You can open a new account with the new number, then contact Betway to close the old one (Betway FAQ).

What to do: if you change numbers, ask support to close the old account straight away, so you never hold two. Never register for someone else, and never let anyone use yours.

When Betway asks for documents

Betway can ask for documents at any time before it pays a withdrawal. When it asks depends on the amount (Betway FAQ).

What it may ask for (terms, General: Identification Checks):

• Photo ID, such as a passport or driver’s licence. Betway’s responsible gaming policy also names an identity card.
• Proof of address: a utility bill no older than 90 days, such as an electricity or telephone bill.
• Copies of the cards you deposited with.

The withdrawal waits until Betway has received and checked everything. If you do not send the documents within 4 weeks of the request, Betway can lock the account and void winnings. Fake documents mean a locked account and a lost balance.

The welcome offer: what you must bet first

Betway’s welcome offer is for new customers. You must claim it first. Use the Sign Up or Deposit Now button on an offer banner, the link in Betway’s SMS, or the app notification (terms, Welcome Offer).

Then, within 30 days of registering:

• Deposit at least ₦500. It must be your first deposit after registration.
• Bet the whole deposit on one accumulator. It needs 5 or more selections, with at least 5 at odds of 1.40 or more. Combined odds must be 5.00 or more.
• What does not count: singles, system bets, outrights, voided bets and bets you cash out. It must be a cash bet, and it must settle.

Once it settles, you get a Free Bet matching your first deposit, up to ₦250,000. You also get 10 free spins on Hot Hot Betway, worth ₦45 each, and 10 free flights on Aviator, worth ₦50 each.

An example: you deposit ₦10,000. You bet all ₦10,000 on one qualifying accumulator. When it settles, you get a ₦10,000 Free Bet.

The Free Bet has its own rules (terms, Free Bet).

• It expires after 7 days, unless the offer says otherwise.
• Use all of it in one bet, single or multiple.
• You keep only the winnings, not the Free Bet stake. A ₦2 Free Bet at odds of 4.0 pays ₦6.
• Maximum return: ₦8,000,000 in the terms, ₦7,500,000 in the FAQ (Betway FAQ). Plan on the lower figure.
• A withdrawal wipes it. Any Free Bet balance is lost when you withdraw. A Free Bet balance can never be withdrawn.

Who can take it: people aged 18 or older who are Nigerian citizens or live permanently in Nigeria.

Offers are limited to one per person, family, household address, email, phone number, payment account and shared computer (terms, General: Availability of Offers). Betway can ask for ID before it credits any bonus or Free Bet.

What to do: if you do not want a 5-selection accumulator with your first deposit, do not claim the offer.

Before your first deposit

• The minimum deposit and minimum stake are both ₦100 (terms, General Betting Rules).
• Bet your deposit before you withdraw it. If a deposit is not “sufficiently played”, Betway can charge its processing costs and reduce the withdrawal (terms, General: Withdrawals).
• Read Betway’s withdrawal rules first: they decide whether you get paid.
• Save Betway’s official contacts. Anyone who messages you first, offering help with a withdrawal, is not Betway.

If betting stops being fun

Betway lists these tools (Betway responsible gaming):

• Self-lock from the Responsible Gaming section of your profile, starting at once. The responsible gaming page allows up to six months; the general terms say up to three months.
• Time out for any period from 24 hours up to 7 days (terms, Responsible Gaming Policy).
• Longer breaks by email to responsiblegambling@betway.com.ng. Choose a cooling-off of at least 24 hours, a suspension of at least 1 month, or self-exclusion of at least 3 months. Or ask for permanent closure. Betway confirms the request by phone. Allow 48 hours for it to take effect.
• Wager limits per day, week or month. Lowering one works at once. Raising or removing one waits at least 24 hours. The limits cover sports, live and eSports bets only.

A self-lock from your profile ends by itself. After an exclusion you asked for by email, the account reopens only when you ask.
