MSport registration: sign up by phone, the name rule and ID checks

By ·

Signing up for MSport takes a phone number and an SMS code.

The rules that matter come later: whose name is on the account, how many accounts and offers a household gets, and when documents are due. This page goes through the sign-up form, then those rules, each from MSport’s own pages.

Is MSport licensed in Nigeria?

Yes. MSport gives Lagos licence number LSLGA/OP/OSB/MS181223 at the foot of its site. It is on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s register of licensed online betting operators, under the company Msport Technology Limited (LSLGA register).

Its row on our copy of the register: MSport on the Lagos register.

You must be over 18 to register or bet (MSport terms, Your MSport Account 1.1).

How to register on MSport

Registration is free (MSport FAQ). On msport.com, tap Sign Up. On the phone version of the site the button says Join.

The form is called “Create Your MSport Account”. On 26 October 2026 it asked for one thing: your phone number, after +234. Then you tap Next.

Below it, MSport says that by creating an account you accept its terms and confirm you are at least 18.

MSport’s help page gives the rest (MSport help: How to Register):

The same help page also mentions signing in with Facebook. The form on 26 October showed only the phone number.

Your phone number is your username

Your username is the phone number you verified when you registered. MSport’s FAQ says it “cannot be changed” (MSport FAQ). If you forget your username, you have to contact MSport.

What to do: register with your own number, one you will keep. Keep that SIM active.

Add an email too. Once logged in, go to Me, then My Account, then Account Security, and choose Email.

MSport sends a link to verify it, and asks you to upload documents. Once verified, the email cannot be changed (MSport help: security email).

After that, if SMS codes stop arriving, MSport can send your login code to that email (MSport help: login code by email).

Who can open an account

Two MSport pages differ on ID at sign-up. The form asks only for a phone number.

MSport’s responsible gaming page says a new user “must provide a valid Government-issued ID at the time of registration”. It also asks for your name, date of birth and address (MSport responsible gaming).

What to do: take the stricter page as the rule. Have your own valid ID ready before you deposit. Fill in your real name, date of birth and address in your profile: Me, your profile, then Account info.

The name on your account

All the details you give MSport must be “accurate and complete in all respects”. If you pay with a card, the cardholder’s name must match the name you registered with. If it does not, MSport suspends the account (MSport terms, Your MSport Account 1.2).

Withdrawals are paid only in the name of the registered account holder (MSport terms, Your Finances 2.1).

The first time you withdraw to a new bank account, you set a six-digit withdrawal password, confirmed by a code. Once the bank account is confirmed, the name on it “automatically becomes your MSport account name” (MSport help: withdrawal password).

That name can generally be set only once. In special circumstances MSport may allow one reset, after verification.

To ask for it, go to your profile, then My Account, then Account Security, then Name, and tap Reset. You upload your bank card or a deposit receipt, and your NIN card showing your full name.

MSport reviews it within 3 business days (MSport help: resetting your withdrawal name).

What to do: deposit and withdraw only with a bank account in your own name, the same name as on your NIN. Never make your first withdrawal to someone else’s account.

One account per person, one offer per household

Customers may open only one account. If MSport finds more than one, it can close or suspend them. It can also keep any winnings or bonus payments (MSport terms, Your MSport Account 1.6).

Offers are limited to one per person, family, household address, email address, phone number, mobile device, app download or shared computer (MSport terms, Betting Procedures 3.1).

What to do: if someone in your house already has an MSport offer, do not expect a second one there.

Never register for someone else, and never let anyone use your login. MSport’s terms say a bet stands if your username and password were entered correctly, whether or not you placed it (Your MSport Account 2.2).

When MSport asks for documents

MSport’s terms let it check you after you register (MSport terms, Your MSport Account 1.1 to 1.5).

MSport also runs risk rules it does not publish. Break one, and your account goes on a “grey list”: the money you try to withdraw is frozen while MSport checks your records. It may then ask for documents (MSport help: How to view Transactions).

If that happens, upload the documents in your account under My Transactions, then Verify. Photograph your ID flat on a table, with all four corners showing (MSport help: verifying a blocked account).

Withdrawing to an account other than the one you deposited from also sends you through a verification check (MSport help: withdrawal policy).

If a withdrawal is already stuck: MSport withdrawal problems.

The welcome offer: what MSport publishes

MSport’s promotions page lists a “₦500,000 Welcome Offer”. Its terms open only after you log in, so I cannot give them here (MSport promotions). MSport asks you to read each promotion’s terms before you opt in (MSport help: Promotions).

Its terms and help pages set these rules for every offer.

What to do: open the offer’s terms after you log in, and read them before you opt in or deposit. Check what you can withdraw, and by when.

Before your first deposit

If betting stops being fun

MSport offers self-exclusion. You choose which betting games to exclude, in Me, then your phone number or nickname, then Self Exclusion.

It cannot be lifted until the period ends, but you can still log in to withdraw (MSport help: self-exclusion). While you are self-excluded, you may not open a new MSport account (MSport responsible gaming).

Deactivating your account is different: you undo it simply by logging back in, so it is not a real break (MSport help: deactivation).
