SportyBet registration: sign up, your name and the one-account rule
Signing up for SportyBet takes a phone number, a password and a code.
The rules that matter come later: whose name is on the account, how many accounts you may have, and what you may have to prove. This page goes through the sign-up, then those rules. Each comes from SportyBet’s own pages.
Is SportyBet licensed in Nigeria?
Yes. SportyBet is on the register of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority as “Sportybet”, run by Marawin Limited.
The licence covers online sports betting and casino, and runs from 5 January 2026 to 4 January 2027 (LSLGA register).
Its row on our copy of the register: SportyBet on the Lagos register.
The footer of SportyBet’s site also cites a federal licence, No 0001014 (SportyBet registration page).
How to register on SportyBet
Registration is free (SportyBet FAQ). Here are the steps from the help centre (SportyBet help: how to register).
- Open sportybet.com/ng, or the SportyBet app from the Play Store or App Store, and tap Register.
- Enter your mobile number after +234, without the first 0.
- Set a password. It must be at least 8 characters long, with at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter and one number (SportyBet mobile registration).
- Choose how to receive your code from the options on the screen. The Telegram option works only if you have an active Telegram account linked to that phone number.
- Enter the 6-digit code. Your account is open.
That is the whole form: a mobile number and a password. When you create the account, you accept SportyBet’s terms. You also confirm that you are 18 or older and that all you give is true (SportyBet registration page).
Signing up also gives you a SportySocial page with a default username, linked to your account (SportyBet terms, section J).
You can change the username as often as you like, but only in Sporty Social (SportyBet help: username).
Where to get the app safely: SportyBet app download.
Who can open an account
- You must be 18 or older. SportyBet can ask for proof of age at any time and suspend the account until you provide it (terms, section B 1.1).
- You must live in Nigeria. SportyBet decides residence by a valid photo ID issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria (terms, B 5.1).
- You must be in Nigeria when you use it. If SportyBet finds you are not a resident, or that you used it from outside Nigeria, it can close your account and keep your winnings (B 5.2 and 5.3).
- Your details must be true and complete (B 1.2).
The account is in naira. SportyBet offers no other currency (terms, Appendix One).
Your name comes from your first deposit
The form asks for no name. Your first deposit sets it.
SportyBet’s terms say you must confirm your details to receive your first deposit. The name on that deposit becomes your account name. Bank withdrawals can only go to that name (terms, Deposits 1.1).
How it works: once your first deposit goes through, SportyBet shows a screen to confirm your account. It takes your first and last name from the card or bank account you paid from. You must confirm (SportyBet help: deposit not credited (new user)).
Two rules follow from it:
- Cards in another name. If you pay by card, the cardholder’s name must be the same as the name on your SportyBet account. If not, the account is suspended. Bets placed before that stand, win or lose (terms, B 1.2).
- Withdrawals. They go only to a personal bank account in the same name as your SportyBet account. Accounts in a company’s name are not allowed (terms, Withdrawals 2.4; SportyBet help: manage withdrawal accounts).
If the name is wrong, you can fix it only until your first successful withdrawal.
Tap “update name” under the withdrawal error. Enter your NIN and upload the documents asked for, each below 5MB. The check can take up to 24 hours.
After a successful withdrawal, the name cannot be changed. If you have officially changed your name, SportyBet asks you to contact customer support (SportyBet help: changing your name).
Once your NIN has been used to check your date of birth, it cannot be changed (SportyBet help: changing your NIN).
What to do: make your first deposit from a bank account or card in your own name, exactly as your bank shows it. Not a friend’s, not a sibling’s, not a business account.
One account, one phone number
You may open only one SportyBet account. Any other account SportyBet thinks you made or use is a “Duplicate Account”. That is so even if your first account is frozen, suspended or self-excluded.
SportyBet can then close or suspend you. It can keep any money due to you, winnings and bonus payments included (terms, B 1.6).
Offers are stricter still: one per person, family, home, email, phone number, phone or tablet, app download or shared computer (terms, Offers 3.1).
Your phone number is your account:
- It cannot be changed. Once your number is verified, the account cannot move to another number. If you lose your SIM, ask your network for a new SIM with the same number (SportyBet help: account safety).
- It cannot be deleted. A number once used on SportyBet cannot be deleted or closed for good. You can deactivate the account, while logged in or from the login page (SportyBet help: deleting an account).
- Your data stays too. Deactivating an account does not erase all your data. Your details and records may be kept as long as legal and regulatory duties require (SportyBet privacy policy).
Want the account closed? SportyBet’s responsible gaming page says to ask customer care to close or deactivate it. Customer care first checks it is you (SportyBet responsible gaming).
If your balance is below zero, the account is not closed until you pay what you owe (terms, B 4.1).
What to do: register with a number you will keep. Never register for someone else, and never let anyone use yours. Every bet placed with your login stands, whether you placed it or not (terms, B 2.1 and 2.2).
When SportyBet asks for ID
SportyBet may ask you to prove who you are (SportyBet help: what is KYC). Here is what it may ask for (SportyBet help: KYC documents).
- Photo ID: a passport, government ID card or driving licence. It must show your full name and date of birth, and must not be expired. If the expiry date is on the back, include the back.
- Proof of address: a document such as a utility bill.
- Proof of funds: that you can afford your betting, such as your job and salary, with documents. SportyBet says it will not contact your employer.
The terms add more (terms, B 1.3 to 1.5).
- SportyBet can suspend or restrict your account until its checks are done.
- It may post you a letter to confirm your address. The envelope does not mention SportyBet. Offers and withdrawals may stay pending until the address is confirmed.
- It may pass your details to credit reference agencies to confirm your identity.
- It can ask for ID before it credits any bonus, free bet or offer (terms, Offers 3.2).
To send documents, ask customer care to turn on the upload option in your transaction history. Use JPG, PNG or PDF files (SportyBet help: uploading documents). BVN checks are no longer offered (SportyBet help: BVN).

Is there a SportyBet welcome bonus?
On 26 October 2026, SportyBet’s promotions page showed no welcome bonus and no first-deposit bonus. It showed game contests, Free Bet gift drops and betting features such as odds boosts, 2UP, Flexi and 1Cut (SportyBet promotions).
What SportyBet calls a “bonus” is extra money on a winning multiple bet. It starts at 3% of the potential win and grows with each selection you add, up to 1000% (SportyBet help: what is a bonus).
Gifts are different:
- Gifts cannot be withdrawn. They can only be used to place bets.
- A Free Bet gift is taken off your winnings. With odds of 4.0 and a ₦50 Free Bet gift, your potential win is ₦150, not ₦200.
- SportyBet can cancel, revoke or expire any gift at any time (SportyBet help: Free Bet gift).
Offers are only for customers who have deposited real money. SportyBet can take any offer away from anyone at any time (terms, Offers 3.3).
What to do: before you count on an offer you saw elsewhere, check that it is on SportyBet’s own promotions page.
Before your first deposit
- Read SportyBet’s withdrawal rules first: they decide whether you get paid.
- Save SportyBet’s official contacts. SportyBet staff never ask for your password, OTP or Sporty PIN (SportyBet help: account safety).
- Set your Sporty PIN, a 4-digit code. You need it for every withdrawal and every card deposit (same page).
- Verify your email in Me, Settings, Profile (SportyBet help: verify email). Then turn on Email 2FA under Safety & Security, so a login from a new device needs a code (SportyBet help: Email 2FA).
- For the first 24 hours after you add a new bank account, withdrawals to it are limited to ₦50,000 (SportyBet help: manage withdrawal accounts).
If betting stops being fun
SportyBet lets you lock yourself out for 24 hours, 48 hours, 7 days, 30 days or up to 90 days. Set it up under Responsible Gaming, then Self-Exclusion. You cannot undo it early (SportyBet help: self-exclusion).
During the lock you cannot deposit or bet, but you can log in to withdraw. A balance you have never staked cannot be withdrawn (SportyBet help: what is self-exclusion).
Gifts that run out during the lock are lost. You may not open a new account while locked out. If you do, SportyBet closes it (SportyBet responsible gaming).
For other help, SportyBet says to talk to its customer care, by live chat or at nigeria.support@sportybet.com.
