SportyBet review 2026: withdrawal limits, maximum payout and the name rule

Many SportyBet problems come down to a few rules: whose name you deposit from, how much you may withdraw, how void selections are paid, and when cash out disappears. Know them before you stake.

Before your first deposit: get your name right

Few reviews mention it, but it is the hardest problem to undo. The name on your SportyBet account must match the name on the bank or OPay account you withdraw to. If it does not, the withdrawal fails.

You can fix a wrong name, but only until your first successful withdrawal. After that, SportyBet’s help centre says the name “cannot be changed” (SportyBet help: changing your name).

The first deposit matters too. SportyBet’s terms say the name confirmed on your first deposit becomes your account name, and bank withdrawals can only go to that name (SportyBet terms, Deposits 1.1 and Withdrawals 2.1).

What to do:

Make your first deposit from an account in your own name. Not a friend’s, not a sibling’s.
Use your name exactly as your bank shows it.
If a withdrawal fails over the name and you have never withdrawn before, tap “update name” under the error. You will need your NIN, and the check can take up to 24 hours.

SportyBet withdrawal limits: per withdrawal, per day and timing

SportyBet publishes no maximum withdrawal per day. Each withdrawal can be up to ₦9,999,999, and two rules can hold you below that: a newly added bank account takes at most ₦50,000 in its first 24 hours, and you can take out at most twice your winnings or twice your settled stakes.

SportyBet’s help centre gives these limits for Nigeria:

No fee from SportyBet. The ₦50 stamp duty on withdrawals of ₦10,000 and above is paid by SportyBet, not taken from you. A charge on your withdrawal comes from your bank.
The ₦50,000 cap returns if you delete a bank account and add it again. Plan a big withdrawal for an account you have used before.
How much you can take out: up to twice your winnings or twice your settled stakes, whichever is higher (SportyBet help: withdrawable balance). A deposit you never staked cannot all come straight back out.
Only to accounts in your name, and SportyBet expects the account you deposited from (SportyBet help: bank accounts for withdrawals).

Most withdrawals reach your bank within 10 minutes, and some banks take up to 24 hours (SportyBet help: pending withdrawal).

Failed: the money goes back to your SportyBet balance. Refresh and check.
Pending for more than 24 hours: contact SportyBet customer care.
“Successful” but not in your bank: open the withdrawal in your transaction history and copy the Session ID. Give it to your bank, not to anyone else. For GTBank, allow up to 72 hours (SportyBet help: withdrawal not credited).

If the bank still cannot find it, SportyBet asks for a PDF statement of that bank account covering the last 10 days.

Voided selections and money taken back

94 of the 1,766 one- and two-star reviews mention voided games, wrong settlement or winnings taken back.

Here is what SportyBet’s rules say:

A void selection does not kill your accumulator. The bet is settled on the other selections, so the payout drops (terms, Settlement 4.3 and 4.4).
Winnings paid by mistake can be taken back later. If a wrong result was used, SportyBet re-settles the bet and sends a rollback notice. If you already spent or withdrew the money, your balance can go negative (SportyBet FAQ).
The result counts on the day the match ends. A decision overturned later does not change your bet.
Some live bets can be voided. This covers a bet placed after a goal or a red card, and a market SportyBet cannot confirm, for example when live pictures are lost.

What to do:

Note your ticket ID for any bet that matters.
If a big win comes from a strange result, check your transaction history before you stake that money again.
If you think a bet was settled wrongly, complain with the ticket ID. You have 30 days from settlement (terms, Bet Confirmation 2.5).
A bet on a small league can stay unsettled while SportyBet waits for the official result. For some leagues that is up to 5 working days. Contact customer care if a bet is still open 12 hours after the match (SportyBet help: unsettled bet).

Why cash out is sometimes missing

Cash out is the most common complaint: 168 of the low-star reviews mention it, often that it was locked during a match. SportyBet lists the reasons (SportyBet help: cash out):

a market in your bet is suspended, which happens often during live play;
cash out is switched off for that event or market;
it is a One Cut bet, which cannot be cashed out;
the bet uses a gift other than a Free Bet gift;
your app is out of date.

If cash out is part of your plan, check that it is offered before you place the bet. Do not count on it once the match starts.

SportyBet maximum payout in Nigeria

SportyBet’s maximum payout on sports is ₦200,000,000 per bet, and a player can win at most ₦1,000,000,000 in a day. Games have a lower cap, below.

SportyBet casino: it is called Games

SportyBet has no tab called Casino. Its casino is the Games tab. From Nigeria, the lobby shows slots, live casino, crash games, roulette, and card and table games (SportyBet Games).

What SportyBet’s own pages say about it:

Maximum payout: ₦50,000,000 per bet in Games, against ₦200,000,000 on sports (SportyBet FAQ).
SportyBet’s own Roulette has 13 numbers, 0 to 12. Red or black pays 2 on 6 of them. One number pays 12. Whatever you pick, over many spins about ₦923 of every ₦1,000 you stake comes back (SportyBet help: Games).
Sporty Soccer: a random event makes about 1 shot in 10 miss, however well you aim. A round left unfinished for 14 days loses its stake.
Live Games are draws run by a presenter, such as Dice Duel, Baccarat and Wheel. A draw can be cancelled after a technical fault. Send a claim about a result within 30 days of the draw (SportyBet help: Live Games).
Gifts cannot be withdrawn. SportyBet says gifts are not the same as its multibet bonus (SportyBet help: Others).

Keep your account safe

SportyBet staff will never ask for your password, OTP or Sporty PIN. Anyone who asks is not SportyBet (SportyBet help: account safety).
Your phone number cannot be changed once the account is verified. If you lose the SIM, get a new one with the same number from your network (SportyBet help: compromised account).
If you think someone else has your login, deactivate the account yourself from the login page. You can reactivate it the same way.
SportyBet may ask for ID and proof of address, and in some cases proof of where your money comes from. Have them ready so a check does not hold up a withdrawal (SportyBet help: KYC documents).

Drawbacks: what players complain about

Of the 12,765 Google Play reviews of the SportyBet app posted from 23 March to 22 September 2026, 1,766 gave one or two stars. The table counts those. One review can mention several things.

What players like

The happy reviews on Google Play are simple. 458 of the 10,490 four- and five-star reviews call the app easy to use, and 135 praise fast payouts. SportyBet replied to 9,511 of all the reviews.

Licence

SportyBet is on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s register of licensed online betting operators, under the company Marawin Limited (LSLGA register). Its own site also cites federal licence No 0001014 from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.

Since the Supreme Court’s ruling of 22 November 2024, the states regulate betting, not the federal commission (Aluko & Oyebode on the ruling). In Lagos, the state licence is the one that counts.

Before you open an account with any bookmaker, look for it on that register. LSLGA also publishes a list of operators it found working without a licence.
