PalmPay betting deposit charges: why the guides disagree
If you fund a betting account from PalmPay, you pay two charges on top. One is the ₦50 stamp duty on ₦10,000 or more. The other is a wallet transfer fee.
No single PalmPay fee holds. The guides disagree, and none of them is PalmPay.
Take a ₦10,000 deposit where you want the full ₦10,000 to reach the bookmaker. I count charges on top of the transfer, not taken out of it. So ₦10,075 leaves your wallet: ₦50 duty plus the ₦25 maximum wallet fee for that band.
The Central Bank guide sets the maximum transfer fee. It is ₦10 below ₦5,000, ₦25 from ₦5,001 to ₦50,000, and ₦50 above ₦50,000.
These ceilings have applied since 1 January 2020. They are caps, not prices, so a wallet may charge less. A bank that overcharges faces a penalty per affected customer, which is why app prices often sit below the cap.
So I read the spread between guides as pricing, not error, since any fee below the cap is allowed. That is why one guide can show free or flat pricing while another repeats the band.
momocalc lists a flat ₦10 per transfer. A second compilation describes PalmPay as passing on the regulated band. brands.ng adds that transfers below the lower limit are free and agent cash-out costs 0.5%.
The disagreement is the finding. None of these pages is PalmPay, so rely on the fee your app shows.
TheCable reported that from 1 January 2026 the ₦50 stamp duty moved from receiver to sender. The duty sits under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025.
Legit.ng noted that OPay, PalmPay and Moniepoint told users directly. TechCabal set out how the cost rises on larger transfers.
For you, this reverses who pays. Funding your account now carries the duty, and receiving a withdrawal no longer does.
Transfers below ₦10,000, salaries and transfers between your own accounts are exempt. The charge is debited on top, so a round deposit arrives in full. Your wallet loses more than you sent.
I have not deposited, withdrawn or timed anything for this page. Payout times in circulation come from sites that did not say how they measured. I do not repeat any of them as fact.
Check the fee screen in your PalmPay app before you confirm, as that screen is the only authority. If the amount is near the duty threshold, note whether the duty applies. Keep the receipt if the debit looks wrong.
