Is Betano working in Nigeria? Status in October 2026, and your balance
Not fully. As of 28 October 2026, Betano’s last word on Nigeria is its notice of 17 August: “We are currently experiencing service limitations in Nigeria. We will refund your remaining balance to your designated account while we work to restore full service” (Betano Nigeria on X).
Its website does open for a visitor in Nigeria, with odds for the day’s matches and registration. But Betano has not said that the service is back, and players were still reporting in late October that they could not deposit. If you still have money in a Betano account, the steps below are what you can do now.
What Betano has said
- 17 August 2026, afternoon: Betano Nigeria posted that “due to technical issues” it could not process payments, and its app showed that deposits were unavailable (Betano Nigeria on X).
- 17 August, evening: the notice quoted above, about “service limitations in Nigeria” and refunds of remaining balances.
- 18 August: the same notice went up in Betano’s help centre as its only “What’s Happening Now” alert (Betano help: service limitations in Nigeria). On 28 October it was still there, unchanged.
Betano has not explained what a “designated account” is, when refunds are paid or how to claim one. Its parent company, Kaizen Gaming, still lists Nigeria among its markets (Kaizen Gaming).
What betano.ng shows now
On 28 October 2026, betano.ng opened normally for a visitor in Nigeria: the sportsbook with odds in naira for that day’s matches, registration and login, and a field to load booking codes. I did not log in, so I could not see whether deposits work.
Drawbacks: what players report since August
From 17 August to 17 October 2026, about 30 Google Play reviews of the Betano app say that from Nigeria they cannot deposit, place a bet (“temporarily not accepting bets”) or open their account. The latest, on 17 October, reads simply: “I can’t deposit money”.
One review from 13 October says Betano logged the player out and refunded the balance without warning. No review I read says the Nigerian service has come back. Reviews from 20 to 25 October still say the same: “No longer accept funding in Nigeria”, and “I can’t fund my balance now”.
If you still have money in Betano
- Check the bank account you withdraw to. Betano pays withdrawals only by bank transfer, to the account linked to your deposits (Betano help: withdrawal methods). That is the most likely “designated account” for a refund, though Betano has not said so.
- Screenshot your balance and your transaction history now, while you can still log in.
- Ask Betano in writing. Use its live chat or contact form in the help centre (Betano help: contact form), with your username, your balance and the bank account you want it paid to. Keep the reply.
- Log in at least once a year. Betano says that after 12 months without a login it may charge a monthly fee on a balance, “until the money runs out” (Betano help: inactive accounts).
- Expect 5% off any winnings. Betano says it takes 5% of your net winnings when you withdraw (Betano help: tax on winnings). That is the Lagos betting tax: see the betting tax in Nigeria.
Watch out for “Betano recovery” offers
Anyone on WhatsApp, Telegram or Facebook who offers to “recover” or “release” your Betano balance for a fee is not Betano. Betano lists no WhatsApp support line, and has said it never contacts customers through social media or asks for their login details.
Contacting Betano
- Live chat, from the bottom of the help centre; it starts with a virtual assistant
- Contact form, which replaced email support
- X: @Betano_Nigeria; Facebook: Betano.Nigeria; Instagram: betano_nigeria
Licence
Betano is still on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s register of licensed online betting operators, under the company Kaizen Gaming Limited, with a licence running to 22 September 2027 (LSLGA register). A licence on the register does not mean a bookmaker is taking bets.
If you want a bookmaker that is working now, see the other bookmaker reviews and the Lagos register, searchable.
If betting stops being fun
A break that a bookmaker forces on you is a good moment to ask whether you want to start again elsewhere.

My methodology
This page is not based on my own account. It rests on:
- What Betano says: its posts on its Nigerian X account and its Nigerian help centre, read on 20 October 2026; the help centre again on 28 October. On 28 October I also checked what its home page shows a visitor in Nigeria. This page quotes no rules from its terms.
- What players wrote: the Google Play reviews of the Betano app from 17 August to 26 October 2026 that are about Nigeria. The app serves many countries, so I counted only reviews that mention Nigeria, naira or the outage.
I will update this page when Betano says the service is back.
