Bet9ja registration: sign up, ID checks and the one-account rule

Opening a Bet9ja account takes one short form and a code.

The rules that matter come later: whose name is on the account, whose bank gets paid, and what a second account costs you. This page goes through the sign-up form, then those rules, each from Bet9ja’s own pages.

Is Bet9ja licensed in Nigeria?

Yes. Bet9ja is on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority’s register as “Bet9ja”, run by KC Gaming Networks Limited. Its licence, for online sports betting and casino, runs to 2 October 2027 (LSLGA register).

You must be 18 or older to open an account (Bet9ja general terms, IV.2).

How to register on Bet9ja

Open the Bet9ja site or app and tap Register. Registration is free (Bet9ja FAQ). The form, titled “Open Account”, asks for (Bet9ja registration form):

• Name and surname.
• Mobile number, typed after +234.
• Email.
• Password.
• Promotion code, which is optional.

The box “I am over 18 years old” is already ticked when the form opens. By creating the account, you accept Bet9ja’s terms and confirm you are over 18 and aware of its Responsible Gambling Policy.

Tap Verify & Create Account. Bet9ja then asks for a one-time password (OTP).

Once you enter the correct one, the account is registered. Bet9ja then takes you to its deposit page (Bet9ja help: how to register).

Bet9ja can refuse to register an account, with or without a reason (general terms, IV.1). Its services are in naira only (II).

Where to get the app safely: Bet9ja app download.

You do not need an account to book a bet. Make your selections without logging in and copy the booking number. Then pay at a Bet9ja shop, where the cashier places the bet (Bet9ja help: how to book a bet).

Use your real name: your ID and your bank must match it

When you register, you promise Bet9ja that you are 18. Your details must be accurate: full name, date of birth, country of residence, email and phone number (general terms, IV.2).

You must tell Bet9ja when they change. And the account must be for yourself, not for someone else.

If any of this turns out false, Bet9ja can cancel your bets and refuse to pay the winnings. It can close the account. It can also report the matter to the police, your family or the regulator.

Your name then has to match two things:

• Your ID. One reason Bet9ja gives for a failed check is that “the name in your account is not the same as the name in your ID” (Bet9ja help: verifying your account).
• Your bank account. Bet9ja pays only into a bank account registered on your profile, at a Nigerian bank and in your name only (general terms, V.1). If the account holder’s name does not match your registration details, Bet9ja suspends your account until you send ID and a bank statement (Bet9ja help: how to withdraw).

What to do: type your name and surname exactly as on your ID and your bank account. Use your own phone number and email.

Made a mistake? Ask customer service to correct it (Bet9ja FAQ). Do not open a new account, as the next rule shows.

One account per person, for good

Every customer may open only one account. That includes accounts opened with a misspelt or different version of your name or email (general terms, IV.6).

If Bet9ja finds more than one, it can close them or let you keep the first. It can void every bet on the duplicates and withhold the winnings.

The FAQ puts it shortly: “Multiple accounts are not allowed” (Bet9ja FAQ).

Three more rules from the same section:

• No buying, selling or passing on accounts. You may not transfer your account, or take over someone else’s (IV.4).
• No staff or agent bets. Bet9ja’s employees, anyone connected to them, and anyone connected to a Bet9ja agent or service provider may not bet. Such bets are void (IV.5).
• No new account after closing. You can ask to close your account in writing at any time. Once it is closed, you cannot register a new one. Bet9ja may reopen a closed account at its discretion, after checking your identity (IV.8).

What to do: never register for someone else, and never let anyone use your account.

Verify before your first withdrawal

You need a verified account to withdraw or add a new bank account. Bet9ja checks your email address first, then your ID (Bet9ja help: verifying your account). It accepts only these documents:

• NIN slip
• NIN ID card
• Voter’s card
• Passport
• Driver’s licence

On your phone, log in, open the withdrawals page and tap Start Verification. Choose your country of residence, then photograph the front and back of your document and submit.

The result usually comes within three minutes. If not, a manual check can take up to 72 hours, and Bet9ja’s team contacts you.

A check can fail if the document is invalid or damaged, the picture is blurry, or your names do not match. Bet9ja then asks for another document.

Bet9ja can also check your identity at any time. It can restrict your account until the check is done. If it cannot verify your details, or finds them false, it can void your bets, close the account and keep the balance (general terms, IV.3).

When you withdraw, it may ask for (general terms, V):

• Your ID, front and back.
• A bank or card statement no older than one calendar month, showing your name, billing address, account number and Bet9ja transactions.
• A copy of your card, showing only the last 4 digits, if you deposited by card.

What to do: verify early, before you need the money. If the Start Verification page comes back, Bet9ja says to upload a better picture.

The welcome bonus

Bet9ja’s help pages describe a sign-up bonus. It is 100% on your first deposit, up to ₦100,000 (Bet9ja help: promotions; Bet9ja FAQ).

But its promotions page on 26 October 2026 listed nine offers, and none was a welcome bonus (Bet9ja promotions). I found no minimum deposit, wagering or time limit for one on its help pages.

Bet9ja’s general bonus terms apply to every bonus (Bet9ja bonus terms):

• One sports welcome bonus per account. A bonus cannot move between accounts.
• Bonus money sits in a separate bonus balance. Its winnings move to your cash balance only when the bonus is complete: all of it staked under its rules, within its time limit. If not, the bonus and its winnings are lost.
• Some bets do not count, such as cashed-out and void bets.
• Trying to take a bonus twice is abuse. Bet9ja can then reclaim the bonus and its winnings and close the account with no right to reopen it.

You track a bonus under My Account, then Bonus. When its progress bar reaches 100%, you can tap Redeem Bonus to turn it into cash (Bet9ja help: redeem your bonus).

What to do: if Bet9ja offers you a welcome bonus, read its own rules before your first deposit, and decide then.

Before your first deposit

• A deposit cannot be withdrawn. Bet9ja’s terms say deposits made after 13 January 2025 can only be used for betting. Only winnings can be withdrawn (general terms, V.2). Deposit only what you mean to stake. More in our Bet9ja review.
• Deposit from your own account. If a deposit comes from someone else’s account, Bet9ja can send it back to its source, void your bets and refuse to pay winnings from them (V.1).
• Keep your password to yourself. Every bet stands if the correct username and password were used (IV.7). Each withdrawal also needs a code sent by SMS or email (Bet9ja help: how to withdraw).
• Save Bet9ja’s official contacts. Anyone who messages you first, offering help with a withdrawal, is not Bet9ja.

If betting stops being fun

Bet9ja lets you limit deposits per day, week or month under My Account, then Responsible Gambling. A change takes effect immediately (Bet9ja responsible gambling).

You can also self-exclude under My Account, for 90 consecutive days or indefinitely. It starts immediately (Bet9ja help: self-exclusion).

Withdraw your balance first: from the moment you ask, Bet9ja cannot reopen the account or pay a withdrawal. Any bonuses and free bets are cancelled.
